Why the Room Matters More Than the Camera

Nervous about being on camera?

Come see the rooms first. Book a session at BeKnown Studio in Scottsdale and start in the setup that feels like yours.

Most people who book a session with us say the same thing at the door: "I'm a little nervous."

Then they sit down, someone offers them a coffee, and about ten minutes later they're telling their story like they're talking to a friend. The cameras are still there. They just stopped thinking about them.

That's not luck. It's the room.

Why the room changes how you talk

Camera quality matters, and we take it seriously. But a great camera can't fix a guest who is tense, stiff, or watching the lens. People relax when the space feels familiar. They open up when they're comfortable. And when they open up, the video gets better, because it sounds like a real person.

We've seen this many times in our studio in Scottsdale. The people who struggle most are usually the ones who walk into a cold, bright, "TV set" kind of space and feel like they're being tested. So we build the rooms the other way around. Comfort first, tech second.

The White Podcast Room: it feels like your own office

White walls, white shelves, even light. It looks like a calm office, not a studio, and that's the point. Most of our first-time guests start here because bright, soft light is forgiving and the space doesn't feel like a stage.

You can make it yours. Put your book, an award, or something personal on the shelves, or use the decor we keep at the studio. When the room looks like your world, it's easier to talk like yourself.

Good for solo or 2 people. See the White Podcast Room.

The Black Podcast Room: cozy, warm and a little cinematic

Dark walls, soft glowing light and a leather armchair you can actually sink into. The room is quiet and wraps around you. Guests often say it feels more like a lounge than a studio.

It also gives a deeper, higher-contrast look on camera, so you get comfort and a premium feel in one place. The room has acoustic panels and soft carpet flooring, which helps reduce echo and sound reflections.

Good for solo or 2 people. See the Black Podcast Room.

The Couch Set-Up: a conversation, not an interview

Sofa seating for up to 3 people, with an individual microphone for each seat. If you're recording with a co-host or a guest, this is the one. You sit next to each other, turn toward each other and just talk, the way you would at home.

It's also the setup we use for the Podcast Experience: birthdays, family days and friend groups. Nobody there is a "presenter". They're just having a good time, and that comes through.

What we take off your plate

You shouldn't have to think about lights, angles or audio levels. Our team runs the cameras, sound and lighting, so your only job is the conversation. Camera filming includes professional audio recording, and when you add cameras you get individual microphones for each guest.

If you can forget the gear exists, we did our job.

The bigger looks, when you want them

Some projects need a different feel, and we have that too. The cyclorama is a seamless white wall for product videos and full-body filming. The LED video wall lets you show your branding, slides or a news-style background behind you. Both are great, and both are easier once you've done a first session in a room that feels like home.

5 tips if you're nervous on camera

  • Pick the room that feels most like you. If you're unsure, start with the White Podcast Room or the Couch Set-Up.
  • Come with talking points, not a script. A few bullet points are enough.
  • Look at the person, not the lens. Talk to your guest or host like they're a friend.
  • Give yourself ten minutes. Almost everyone settles in after the first few questions. You can always redo a line.
  • Wear what you'd wear to a good meeting. If you feel like yourself, you'll sound like yourself.

Frequently asked questions

I've never been on camera. Which room should I choose?

Most first-timers like the White Podcast Room or the Couch Set-Up. Both feel relaxed and familiar. If you're not sure, tell us what you're filming and we'll suggest one.

Will it feel like a TV set?

No. Our rooms are built to feel like an office, a lounge or a living room. A team runs the technical side, so you can focus on talking.

Can I bring a guest or a co-host?

Yes. The White and Black Podcast Rooms work for solo or 2 people, and the Couch Set-Up seats up to 3, with an individual microphone for each seat.

How much does it cost?

Studio space and basic lighting start from $99 per hour. Cameras, a teleprompter and raw footage upload are add-ons. See the full studio pricing.

Where is the studio?

BeKnown Studio is at 14423 N 73rd St, Scottsdale, AZ.

Come see the room first

If you're nervous, that's normal, and it's the most common thing we hear. Stop by, look at the rooms and pick the one that feels right. Then forget the cameras and tell your story.
